Urban Outfitters is well known for their over the top displays. Urban Outfitters has a great imagination when it comes to displaying their clothes.  So Last week I went to my neighborhood Urban Outfitters to check out their latest wild display.

My neighborhood Urban Outfitters is located inside a mall, so the outside visuals aren’t  to grand. Although they do have a gigantic teal blue “Urban Outfitters” sign sitting outside their window, its become a very popular back drop for photos. Walking through the store I automatically get a industrial feel from them. Lots of wood is being used to hold clothes. Everywhere you looked there was wood displayed in a new and fun way. There were little cubes of clothes that looked liked they were in there own room with other clothes that were all in the same style family. There was one particular structure that had caught my attention. This display was locate on the stairs going upwards towards the men section. Usually when stores have an upstairs they just have a simple set of stairs. However, Urban Outfitters can never just have a plain set of steps. These particular stairs played onto the wood theme. Your eyes automatically gear towards the planks of woods that are flooding onto the tables with folded shirts. Also on the walls you have shelves with shirts hanging and folded in them but than you also have shelves with planks of wood shooting out of them. This display works very well because it the exciting way they displayed the shelves force you to look at the clothes that are next to it. It also works for this area because while most people would just walk up the stairs Urban Outfitters makes you stop and shop….ON THE STAIRS. Its a beautiful way to get your customers to shop more. This display is also hitting the target market that will be climbing these stairs. Since the area upstairs is mens clothes Urban decided to put mens clothes on the stairs since the majority of the people that will be climbing those stairs will be men going towards the men section up stairs. Those men will be able to get a feel of what they will be seeing when they get up stairs and they might also get to pick up a few items before they even get upstairs. Another great reason this display works for where its displayed is because some men might not know that there is a men section upstairs. Putting the display of mens clothes will let the men walking by the stairs know that the men section is upstairs.

So once again Urban Outfitters has done a great and beautiful job of displaying their clothes in a unique way. They are always great at creating a theme and having it flow nicely throughout the whole store. I would love to one day work for Urban Outfitters and help create these awesome displays.

My Audience

i’ve been keeping track of my audience on the website called Hootsuite.com. I added my twitter and my facebook to the website so they can track who interacts with me the most so I can see what my audience likes from me the best.

After watching for about a week I think I got a pretty good idea about who my audience is. I get most of my retweets and likes when i post quotes about relationships or anything to do with it. I also tend to get a lot of feed back when I post celebrity gossip things. So with both these things in mind I would think that my audience is most likely the young teens. They come from my highschool or people I have met while going to meet and greets. Also there are some random people mixed in there from my stuff getting retweeted and people seeing it on their timeline! I also noticed that Night time around 9:00pm is the time that most people are on my profile and interacting with me. I think this has to do with the fact that people are probably laying in bed at this time and scrolling through their timelines.

This is the result that I got from Hootsuite.com about my audience on Twitter and Facebook.

size me up

Have you ever gone into a store and have tried on your normal size shirt but it ends up to be a little to small? Your first reaction is probably, “Have I gained weight?” Sometimes thats the case, but sometimes thats not the case. Ive noticed when I go shopping that I could one size in one shirt and than try on another shirt and it not fit me. Thats when i realized that its not me thats gaining weight. Clothes are made differently which can result in the clothes not all fitting the same way. I decided to do a experiment and head to the mall and go into Forever 21. For this experiment I will be picking out about 20 shirts all in the same size and see how many actually fit me and how many don’t.

When I walked into Forever 21 I immediately grabbed the first shirt I saw, this experiment isn’t about liking the item, and I grabbed the size I needed. I continued to do the same thing grabbing 20 shirts. I tried to keep them all about the same look just so I can really see good results in this experiment. I headed to the dressing room with my 20 shirts all in the same size and was lead into a spacious fitting room. As I began to try my shirts on it seemed to be going good. The first 5 shirts all fit me the same. Once I got to the 6th shirt I could really see a difference in the fit of the shirts, it was much larger. I continued to try the shirts on and continued to see a mix of different fits in the shirts that were supposed to be the same size. After trying on all 20 shirts I got my results. Out of 20 shirts 12 fit me like they were supposed to and the other 6 were different fits.

After my experiment I can now see that the answer to your “did I gain weight” question is not always yes. Make sure to try on your clothes before you buy it because your normal size may not fit you like it normally does.

The final photos from a photo shoot I did for my Styling class at LIM college. We had to pick outfits out based off a movie we watched. The movie I was assigned was “The Thomas Crown Affair.” After watching the movie I picked these outfits out to try and get a older feel because the movie was made in 1968. However, I made her a little reveling because in the movie she is trying to seduce the lead character. I tried to get the model to use facial expression that the women used in the movie. My goal for this photo shoot was for the audience to see the model as someone who is very powerful and headstrong yet sexy and desirable.

Long story short

i cut my hair.

although this transformation happened a few months ago, I have decided to still blog about the experience.

Everyone used to know me as the girl with really long hair. This was the cause of me never getting a hair cut and if i did it was just a trim. For as long as I can remember I have always had really long hair and I think that was because of my fear of change. Well after months and months of going back and forth, looking at haircuts and looking at hair salons,  I finally decided to make a appointment. Even with my appointment being in a week, I was still going back and forth trying to make a decision on whether I should cancel my appointment or not. And as you can see, I didn’t chicken out. On the morning of my appointment I was having mini panic attacks in the subway on my way to the hair salon and when I got into the salon I was hoping that my hair stylist would not show up, well he did. As  I sat down in the black leather chair the stylist asked the hardest question I have ever had to answer, how short do I want to cut it. At first I had told him pretty short but when he pulled up my hair to show me what it would look like, i knew it was to drastic of a change for me, and I think he knew that too because I went back and forth on how short I wanted it. He initially made the decision of how short I was going, and i’m so glad he did. The cutting process did not take very long. Surprisingly I didn’t cry because I went into that hair salon prepared too. When I first saw my hair all wet and freshly cut all I could think to myself was, ” what the fuck did I just do.” The hairstylist then went ahead and blow dried my hair and curled it. Once everything was finished and done, I looked in the mirror and was quite satisfied with my new hair. However I still wasn’t IN LOVE with it and still skeptic on whether or not it was a good idea. The Picture above of my short hair is the first picture I took of me with my short hair, it was right after I left the hair salon. I got a lot of good feed back from my friends and family on how great my new hair was and how it made me look a lot older. All these positive comments were helping me to like my new hair but i just still wasn’t sure if it was the right decision. Thankfully after a few weeks and learning how to style it, I am grateful to say that I am IN LOVE with my new year. Right now I am in the state where I never want to have long hair again and I want to keep this short hair forever. It feels great to have gotten up the courage to do something out of my comfort zone and come out loving it.

Thanky ou Fox And Jane hair salon for my amazing hair!

First and for most

Spring is coming to New York City and New Yorkers are getting ready. The layers are slowly but surely finally coming off. although its still in the 40’s outside its getting a little warmer each day!

I had a small photo shoot in Central park last week with one of my friends from school. It was a warmer day in New York, even with all the snow still on the ground from one of New York’s many snow storms. I’ve learned in my two years living in New York City that it’s really the wind that kills you, STAY AWAY FROM  THE WIND. I didnt go deep into Central Park because while I was walking by the Pond by the Central Park ice skating rink I got stopped by a heard of ducks.

I have never seen so many ducks at one time. It was probably because they were being fed by a man sitting on the bench. I decided to take advantage of the millions of ducks and use them in my photo shoot. However, my duck adventurous photo shoot ended with my photographer being pooped on my a flying duck. It was quite a little adventure!

When choosing my outfit for this shoot I decided to wear all black because i knew that it would pop against the white snow. I added the tan beanie to add a pop of color and to also match the inside lining in my jacket. another accessory that i added that I think really added to my outfit was the silver cowboy inspired belt. the belt really helped to separate the black crop top and black formal joggers. this helped to make the outfit not look like one big black blob. For my shoes I went with low top slip on sneakers. I went with the sneakers instead of boots because I think the low sneakers flow better then if I would have worn boots because the pants and boots would have become one instead of having that few inches of space which creates a nice flow.
